Cursed Seals

Beginnings

In order to logically place Curse Seals within this site, in the beginning two people whom volunteer and are accepted by the staff will, instead of choosing a bloodline, be granted a perfect curse seal(Similar to that of Jugo's). The two that are chosen, however, will have to understand that they are there to be hunted, targeted, and experimented on. This does not necessarily mean you will die, but it does mean in order for this to logically progress at one point or another you will be captured and your seal studied.

The two 'cursed ones' will have a choice between the offensive and defensive based forms(One will choose offense, the other defense). They shall work in the same way as Jugo's form did, in that you will be able to transform partially or fully, and you will always remain in control(Unless you wish to be a psychopath like Jugo). The difference being, obviously, that the offensive form has superior speed and strength granted during transformation, and the defensive form has superior stamina and defense granted during transformation.(The transformation would be equal to around 10 points in the specified areas) A partial transformation grants only a fraction of that power to the selected area, and you may only ever have a partially transformed part of your body activated for 13 posts, and may only have your full activation out for 8 posts before you may not transform that area again for the remainder of the battle. While the drawbacks may not be as extreme for the cursed ones, they will still exhibit signs of weakness over time and will always feel exhaustion and severe energy loss after using their seal. They may still learn jutsus and elements like normal shinobi, however the difference is that this perfect curse counts as their bloodline as stated before(Can't stress that enough.)

Now, what the **** does this have to do with you getting that awesome Cursed Seal of Heaven that your emo-idol Sasuke has... Well, as hinted before, these two cursed ones will be the target of research and experimentation. Initially, the researcher will have to make a 2,000 word post researching the target subject. With this, they will be granted access to canon curse seals and may begin granting them to people... But wait, hold up, there are very strict guidelines on to how this works, as read below. Keep in mind, for both the initial research and further experimentation, seeing as how curse seals are unpredictable and mysterious to even the greatest minds, they MUST be researched 1st hand. Thus, research may never be taught from person to person. You are free to teach your own custom seals, but you may never benefit from another person's experiments and research. This goes for modifiers(below) as well.

Bestowing a Seal

So, how this works is whenever you wish to plant a seal you shall do the process as described in the jutsu description(If canonical, follow the canonical process. It is allowed to vary slightly, such as you don't really need to bite their neck in order to give them the seal like Orochimaru does. You may apply it with other logical methods). You are expected to make a decent sized post describing every detail of the process when doing this, and when you do so, you shall also use the RPG dice to determine the result.

When doing this, you will go under the "Dice Rolls" section of the post(You must go into the actual "Reply) mode, and look under the response text box for it). You will select both the "Curse Seal Result" dice and "Failure Result" dice(You must click the "+" box after selecting one to add another die. Yah, I know this seems obvious, but it seems not a lot of people can figure it out.) Remember to do this WITH THE POST, in order to make it look nice and neat its annoying to have someone make a double post in order to get the result. After rolling the dice, you shall consult the charts below and add any modifiers you currently have;

As a base curse-applier, your odds for the curse seal to work are as follow:

Curse Seal Result Chart:
1-2: Success! Curse Seal successfully bestowed.
3-10: Failure! Consult the failure chart below.

So yes, you only have a 2/10th chance at the start to succeed, but keep reading. You'll find out how to improve later on.

Failure Result Chart:
1: Death! The seal has not responded well within the body, and as a result has killed the receiver completely.
2-3: Something doesn't feel right... The curse seal works as normal... However, the receiver has completely and permanently lost their bloodline!
4-6: Fuuugly. The receiver has been permanently deformed, a part of their body will permanently remained transformed... However, it is not as it seems. The defective part is thus weakening the rest of the body, and while they may exhibit slightly increased strength and such, overall their timing, speed, stamina and reactions with the transformed area will be nerfed severely.
7-10: Err, I think it worked? Nope, not really. The seal is effectively a failure. The receiver will never be able to advance to the 2nd stage of the Curse Seal, and when using it will exhibit a 2/4 chance of the seal taking control(explained below.) The seal, while it may grant you a bit of power, is literally eating away at the body. Your immune system is barely able to stand it, and over time it will severely weaken you and when used more than 5 times, will kill you flat out.

So, yah, as you're beginning to see, this isn't something you're just gonna get overnight no problems asked. Receiving the seal at all is a complete chance of luck(Hey, think of how low of a number of people that actually successfully received a curse seal there was in the manga compared to all the failed experiments.) Fear not though, for it can get better!

Research

Alright, so right now you're probably thinking... 2/10ths of a chance to succeed? Thats horrible! Well, it'll get better. Every time a person attempts to grant another person a curse seal, the seal granter may make a 2,000 word post following the seal(regardless of the result.. You could kill them and still benefit from the research.) and it will thus increase your chance of succeeding by 1/10th(and decrease chance of failing by 1/10th.) The dice rolls will stay in order, and thus if you've researched one person your modifiers would be as follow:

1-3: Success(3/10th chance instead of 2/10th)
4-10: Failure(7/10th instead of 8/10th)

The rolls will always follow that order... The success rate will increase(1-2,1-3,1-4,1-5,1-6,1-7, up to 1-Cool and the failure rate will decrease(3-10,4-10,5-10,6-10,7-10,8-10, down to 9-10). You may NEVER get below a 2/10th chance of failure, for this represents the fact that a seal must be compatible with a person for it to worked. If you're good at math, you would've figured out by now that it will take 3 experiments before you even get 50%, and 6 before you're maxed out. Thats a good 12,000 words + the initial 2,000 to learn seals.

REMEMBER: THE SEAL MUST BE MADE ON AN ACTUAL CHARACTER OF ANOTHER PERSON FOR THE RESEARCH TO COUNT. YOU MAY NO BESTOW SEALS UPON NPCS AND RESEARCH IT.

Keep in mind as well though, no curse seal actually requires cooperation! Feel free to kidnap some people if your supply is low.

Registering a Curse Seal

This will cover two parts: Custom seals, and the registration of successful seals.

First off, whenever you attempt a curse seal, REGARDLESS OF THE RESULT, the person performing the seal shall immediately register the seal in the "Curse Seal Record Registration" forum. You shall follow the template given, which will include the seal attempted, end result, link to where it was performed, and if you made the additional 2k post after wards for the training. This is mostly for record keeping purposes, as we do not want this getting out of hand with people claiming this and that about the seals.

Secondly, Custom Seals;

Registering a custom seal works like registering a jutsu, you'll follow the same procedure and format, however the difference is your right to register what. Depending on which cursed one you studied, your custom seals will differ. Someone who studied the Cursed One of Offense shouldn't really be registering a seal that grants increased regeneration and diamond hard skin. Granted that'd be just diddly fine if you had studied the Cursed One of Defense, you didn't. Your custom seals should, at least somewhat, make logical sense as to how you came to form the seal.

Usage of a Curse Seal

Alright, so whoever put it on you succeeded. You didn't get all fugly, and you didn't die. Good for you, but not so fast there. Anyone who has a curse seal must, and I do repeat MUST, understand that it is NOT a simple power up. As the name implies, it is a CURSE, and while we do not want to regulate it so much that its just not canonical and useless we wish to do mostly the opposite. We're trying to keep this as canonical as possible, because with this the canonical sense happens to work.

To start off with, every time you activate your seal(Regardless if its CS1 or CS2) you shall roll the dice entitled "Curse Seal Takeover". Doesn't matter what you use, how much you use it, or whatever, every time you activate your seal(Be it partial transformation or full) you must roll this dice.

On a 1, your curse seal takes over. This literally means your whole body will immediately go into the highest form of transformation, and you'll enter into a blood frenzy of high proportions. This is basically your body chemically reacting with the seal, and the sudden rush of power as interfered with your instincts and desires. For 5 straight posts(your posts, not others) whatever abilities granted by the seal will be maxed out, however, you will have minimal control over your character. Your character will only wish for the death of those in sight, and it could care little about how much pain is given to themselves. They'd try to punch their way through a huge boulder thrown at them rather then dodge around it. They'll try to take any attempt at killing the targets(Targets being everyone you can see, regardless of friend or foe.), but because of this blood frenzy you will not be able to use jutsu(Your crazed madness if far too high for you to accurately apply chakra into jutsu). After the 5 posts, you will become incapacitated and require a full 24 hours IRL before you can move like normal. For a failed seal, its on a 1-2 that this will happen. After 5 uses of CS1 or CS2, the chance of the seal taking over is increased by +1 in the same fashion at the seal application. This effect is accumulative, and unlike before it is possible to get a 4/4 100% chance of the seal taking over(provided that it'd take 15 uses before that'd happen.)

On a 2-4, your seal acts like normal.

If your seal takes over 3 times, your body will deteriorate to the point you will no longer be able to use jutsu, or utilize chakra at all for that matter. On the 4th time the seal would have conflicted so much you'll suffer death immediately after the 5 post frenzy.

It is also well known for curse seals to alter the appearance of any bloodlines within the user. While not proven, this is suspected of being a side-effect of the infectious like properties of the curse seal. The curse seal, despite any positives it might bestow upon a user, is indeed a foreign substance within the body, and will react as such. This does not mean a bloodline will get any special benefit... It simply means it may become disfigured, discolored, etc. A Hyuuga with a seal may have their byakugan turn black when activated instead of pure white. A Kaguya's bones may become twisted and hooked. A Senju's wood may appear as if its been burnt, a Kesshoukei's crystals may be multi-colored. Things like that, that don't actually provide any benefit but do provide a unique signature to the user.

Now, as for the actual usage, typically a custom seal will define its own regulations when registered, however since canon seals did not you will use the following to determine how much you can use your seal.

At a CS1 stage, it can be activated for at most 8 of your posts. After it is deactivated you will experience a form of 'withdrawal', along with a very large drop in your energy.

At a CS2 stage, you can use your partial transformation of limbs for at most 10 posts(the limb will be unable to be transformed for the remainder of the battle afterwards, except for full body transformation). You will only be able to hold a full transformation for 7 posts. After a partial transformation, the area transformed will feel weakened and become very vulnerable to attacks. After full transformation your energy will deplete on a very large level. You'd be very close to collapsing, perhaps even dieing from exhaustion, after using a CS2 full body transformation.

Now, you'll probably be wondering about how advancing to stages work. Well, obviously, after receiving the seal you'll be starting out at CS1. In order to advance to CS2, you must complete a 2,500 word quest in either: The place where the seal was researched or discovered, the place where the seal was applied, or a familiar place of experimentation related to the seal bestowed upon you. You may also count interactions with the curse one(s) that your seal came from for this(If doing it that way, it will not have to be a single post. You may interact with them as normal, though it must be progressing your knowledge of the seal or your own passions in some way.) After the word quest is completed you may now use CS1 and CS2, though of course not at the same time.

Anyone with a seal must remember the drawbacks and understand there won't be any lenience when dealing with someone abusing this. While the seal is activated you may be very strong and superior to most, but as soon as its gone you can easily get butt-f*cked. Use it wisely and respect these rules. You won't be told twice.
